I crocheted this weekend! I got off my ass and crocheted something!
I didn't finish anything, but that's only because I'd made less progress than I thought on the blanket I wanted to work on. If I'd gone with the two-colored blanket, I'd be finished. I just need to finish the border and weave in the ends, and that's exactly why I did not choose to work on it. I hate weaving in the ends. I think that might be why I have so many unfinished projects at any one time. If I actually complete something, I'll have to work the ends in. If I set it aside a few rows before it's finished, though, the ends can stay happily unwoven. It's okay then, you see, because I haven't finished it. If I crochet that last row, I'll be forced to work in the ends because to put it back in the closet with only the ends to go would just be sad. But to put away an unfinished project because something else is more exciting is an entirely different thing.
I rationalize like a champ. I have mad procrastination skillz, too. I amaze even myself with them sometimes.
So. I didn't work on the two-colored blanket, but I did fly through what seemed like miles of the three-colored blanket. I watched Bewitched and then Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason while I crocheted. (Shut up. I was in a mood.) So that's several hours, which equals several feet of blanket. I'm now about three quarters of the way through it, and I've had the sense to work in the ends as I go with this one, so I have no reason to strategically move on to another project before completing it.
Except the mail just came, and there are three new books on my desk. Bead Fantasies II, The Simple Art of Japanese Papercrafts, and Stupid Sock Creatures. So this evening I'm going to go home, clean the apartment, play with the cats for a while, and make dinner. And then, I am going to clean out and rearrange my closets. I don't know how I'm going to manage this, because my non-yarn bedroom closet is filled from floor to ceiling with clothes, the coat closet is full of coats, the linen closet is full of linens, and the other stuff closet is full of other stuff, but I will find a way. What else can I do? I'm clearly going to need a bead closet, a paper closet, and a sock closet. Maybe the clothes can go into my storage locker.
Ooh. Maybe I can craft a closet! I bet there's even a book for that.
