My Weekend by The Trista

For my yarn-crafty, volunteery FriendBots

I had a nice weekend, if you don't count my incredibly high snot content. Stuffy nose-type snot, not personality-type snot. Of course, that's there, too, but it's pretty much a constant.
  • I watched Battlestar Galactica. I am obsessed.
  • I watched House. I am obsessed.
  • I went to Ikea and bought the second ( Read more... )

Hey stoat-girl! I'm glad you had a good weekend. House rocks. He's going on my list. I have a new man, now. Well, not new, just not mentioned previously, I think. Gerard Butler. Oh my. Mmmm. Watched Attila this weekend. Also watched Dear Frankie. I think I liked Dear Frankie better, but you see more hotness in Attila. If you haven't seen them, I would netflix them. I'm addicted to netflix now. I like to take the little quizzy thingy to see if I know which movies you like and dislike. :) I've only been wrong once so far!

Hallo, Puffa!

  • Your insanity is so charming. You cannot put House on your list. He is on my list.
  • Gerard Butler absolutely rocks. You have seen Phantom, haven't you?
  • Netflix rocks, doesn't it? I heart it.
  • I love the quizzy thingy, too. Which question were you wrong about?

I'm glad you think I'm charming. It's a relief to know I'm not the only one who thinks that. I sawn Phantom the day it came out and I own the movie soundtrack as well as the original. The movie one isn't bad if you remember that good old Andrew was going for a different sound....but Emmy Rossum is nothing compared to Sarah Brightman. Gerard Butler just sounds like a crazier Phantom than Michael Crawford did. Not so smooth or refined. My goodness, Butler is hot. He's on the list. As is House, you stoaty psycho. Stoatco? And just for kicks, I'm putting Crawford on it, too. I like to hear him sing. I'll put him in the big birdcage with all of the other singing types. Yes to the Netflix. I'm on there every freakin day rating crap and clicking on my recommendations. I can't remember the one I got wrong. It had two movies hadn't seen so I guessed the wrong one. Btw, your friend Mythfish? His cat looks just like Tattoo in that picture. :)

You put down George RR Martin? What is WRONG with you?

I know! It was clearly some sort of mental issue, which I hope has resolved itself. I am loving every word of this book, and I dread the end. I don't want it to be over! I don't want to have to wait another eternity before the next one! *sulk*

So. When it is finished and I am waiting for the next one, what do you recommend I read? I lurve author recommendations from people who like some of the same authors that I read.

On the bright side, the next one is already halfway finished and he thinks he can get it done in a year or so. But he's said that before.

If you haven't already read "The Hedge Knight" and "The Sworn Sword" I'd recommend reading those, because I haven't found anything that I like quite as much as George.

A problem that seem to plague fantasy novels these days is the starting-out-really-good-but-sucking-by-the-end syndrome. Or maybe I'm just too picky. Tad Williams' Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn series was pretty good all the way through, I thought. While technically the first of a series, Lynn Flewelling's The Bone Doll's Twin stands well enough on its own (I read the second book too, but I don't even remember it). If you like pulp sword & sorcery stuff, I highly recommend Michael Moorcock's Elric books. The first two books of Robin Hobb's Assassin series were quite good, but the third dragged on endlessly. If you like sci-fi I'd say David Brin's Startide Rising is the way to go.

Excellent. I like that you've told me a little about them, and about your opions of them. That helps a great deal. :)

Now that I know who you like, who do you dislike?

On the bright side, my snot content is lower today.

I just know The FriendBots are all anxious to know about my snot levels. *snerk* Mostly I just like the word. It's right up there with "stoat."

Maybe you need a Snot Warning System - like different colors to alert us to what the day's snot levels are? Just an idea!

Oh, that is hilarious! Yellow, various shades of green, and all sorts of other icky snotty colors. *shriek*
