I love puzzles.
  • Word puzzles fill me with joy. Crosswords and scrambled word puzzles are my favorites.
  • I love logic puzzles, too. Those glorious grids at the top of the page with the clues written underneath, just waiting for me to ( Read more... )

I bought Kip an expert-level sudoku book for Christmakkuh after watching him spend an hour doing one of the expert-level ones in the Post (he wouldn't be caught dead with a beginner puzzle!). Now I occasionally get voicemail messages to the effect of "I spent half an hour on this one square and I just now finished it, and I had to call someone and tell them!"

My personal crack used to be fill-in puzzles. I would sit for hours at a time doing puzzle after puzzle. Now I've graduated to the Sunday Times ones in my planner.

I so totally understand Kip and his need to tell someone. Oh yes.

I love fill-ins! They fill me with glee. I do the same thing, going through puzzle after puzzle after puzzle. They are fantabulous and incredibly addictive.

When I'm buried in big projects, I often dream about Excel spreadsheets. The weirdest of them, though, was a partially-transparent Gantt chart (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gantt_chart) in the background that followed the timeline of the dream. What made that especially weird was that I could peek ahead in the timeline and see what was going to happen -- and it did!

That must have been both very cool and somewhat creepy. And then throw in the work-iness of it, and wow. So what happened in the dream? Anything good?

The dreaming in spreadsheets thing? Just wait until you start playing Loopz. It's even worse than Tetris. Oh, and you know how when you play Tetris you get Tetris Eyes because you don't blink, ever? Yeah. Buy some eyedrops now.

I stole a game from dawnshine have a game called Huggermugger that you'd probably love. It's all about words. Definitions, scrambled words, spelling, and all sorts of fun stuff, and the goal is to guess the mystery word. I so kick ass at that game.

I keep hearing about how big sudoku is, but know nothing about it so far; so you're saying it's better than Minesweeper? ;)

Nothing is better than Minesweeper.
