NCIS: What Makes An Alpha?

I know everyone is waiting for the meeting with Abby's contact, but I'm still working with that one. Hopefully, this little nugget will be considered an acceptable treat.

Hey! Still reading, but had a sick hubby this weekend which pretty much distracted me from other stuff.

I really liked this installment. It had some teeth, pun intended. I liked Tony figuring out stuff and telling Gibbs about it. I like the subtle difference in shifter relationships. You really hit the point pretty hard that Gibbs left, and even though he had amnesia, it was bad, bad, bad that he ran out on the pack. Now, for a human, I'd probably say you hit it too hard, but I think I'm starting to get a better idea of pack mentality.

I assume, an alpha deserting his pack, and his mate comes with a whole boatload of bad in the shifter world. Am I getting close here ( ... )

*Coos* this was the kind of response I've been hoping for all weekend. Thank you ( ... )

::grin:: See? I love the way you're working the shifter angle. Sometimes, it comes on too strong. There's an SGA fic where being a shifter/pack member, is so paramount it overshadows the human angle. I like this balance you're striking. ::snerk:: I guess you should take that as a compliment. I keep comparing you to other fic that I liked, but not as much as I like yours. ::grin::

I get the feeling Tony is kind of a balance between the two, not having been raised in a pack. Thoroughly shifter, but not with some of the trappings and nonsense that come with a codified pack mentality? Yes? This is going to be so much fun when they run into pack business or territory, right? Kind of reminds me of James first set of centaur stories set in the Houston Knights fandom, except Levon had the full herd mentality going.

You're so right I'm looking forward to more of this. Hey, noticed I hadn't friended you yet. Do you mind if I do?

Ooh, comparisons. I feel special.

I guess one difference is that shifters are human, but with a few additions. They're not a separate species but a subspecies. I think having that thought keeps them more connected.

I'm still sorting out the codified stuff, but yes. Tony understands pack, but not quite as someone who grew up in it. I've never read that set of stories, though have read the related ones that Nix wrote.

Friend away.

Tony may not like being an alpha but damn, he does it well. I love it. I also enjoyed how Tony questioned Gibbs on why he followed Franks the way he did. I am so glad that i started reading this series.

He's someone who's learned to be an alpha rather than being born into the traits. He likes having someone to look to, but that doesn't mean he can't stand on his own. It gives him a different perspective than Gibbs, and makes him a good foil. After all, he did tell Gibbs to read Moby Dick once. *grin*

I'm glad you're enjoying this. I'm glad I started writing this series. The response has been incredible.

Unfortunately, it's going to be a good while before I get to the car blowing up. But I completely understand the sentiment. And I'm really glad your enjoying.

Me too. The lip caterpillar had to go. And the timing was perfect for a Tony lecture.

Are you watching the new episode? I want to say something, but won't until I know you have watched it...

Otherwise... I love the dynamic between Tony and Gibbs in this post-Hiatus mess.

Love the insight into why Gibbs went to Franks. Wonderful.

Nope. Isn't on here for another couple of hours, and I probably won't watch it until tomorrow when my husband can join me. Probably.

Oh goody. I'm glad you like everything. That insight just hit me and it seemed so perfect.

*snorfle* Ok, I so get it. That was great. I am so going to have to play with that when I get to season six. I was laughing so hard.
