More work and lots of waiting

Not too much happening with the gardens this week. I was watering the strawberries and blueberry bush by hand every day, but discovered the blueberry bush in particular was drying out very quickly. I've been watering with the sprinkler the past couple of days and it seems to be doing better. The good news is I spotted some new growth on all of ( Read more... )

squirrels have been known to dig up bulbs. :/

Very true. I actually have chicken wire over all the bulbs to solve that problem (and keep my dog from digging in the garden), but I've also heard voles will eat them. I suspect, however, that I planted the iris bulbs too deeply, which means digging up that chicken wire and moving them closer to the surface, assuming they haven't rotted. Ugh.
