yesterday evening i spent an hour and a half painting a full-face mask at the buddha's birthday celebration festival at southbank. the woman who was running the activity kept coming over and telling me how beautiful it was, and half of the kids who were doing the activity as well stopped and stared at one point. when it was finished, the vendor

that's quite striking, very lovely. i like that asymmetric symmetry it has.

it's a very odd and very bueatiful mask i think :)

the colours don't completely come up with the lighting in the picture, so the gold is actually a mustard yellow and the red between the top and bottom lips is an orange, and the stripe between the eyes a brown, and the outline between the mouth and the black surrounding the eyes is actually a deep blue colour, which i think is fantastic. but you are right, yellow and black and gold and red are the colours i most associate with :)
