It was, possibly to Zack's disappointment, Link who opened the door. His hat was off, his hair mostly yanked out of his ponytail, and he seemed rather breathless. He was also massaging his right ear, which moments before, Sheik had yanked in return for Link flicking his. Rather than being annoyed, however, Link was beaming from ear to ear, that dazzling, bright smile which he was ever capable of ( ... )

Similarly, Sheik looked just a tad dishevelled, and shot Link a reproachful glower as he brushed an errant lock of hair (lazily thrown into a ponytail rather than a braid) over his ear again, as if that would protect it from any further accidents. And he was righting the couch (or what served as one) against the wall, but seemed to be doing it very determinedly, as though to distract from the fact that he'd been caught scarfing down bread crumbs.

There was something awkward in his smile, a roll of the eyes clearly expressing that he believed all this was nonsense anyway. Who celebrated birthdays after they'd died, anyway? Especially after several hundred years. Not that he was really complaining about the fresh batch of baking, damn Ihy, but it was still ridiculous ( ... )

Zack followed at the instructions, dogtags and chain curled tight in his hand. A smile gripped his lips when he witnessed the destruction of the room, nodding a little; he wasn't sure what they had been doing, and wasn't sure he even wanted to know. Furniture toppling and messed hair be evidence of a few things.

"Hey! We're not that bad!" But they were, and he knew it. Link and him were a lot alike, at least in attitude, though Zack was a little nosier than Link, he was coming to notice. Maybe that's why they got along well with each other...and with Sheik. It was fun to disrupt the meticulous order that Sheik carried, and he secretly thought that Sheik enjoyed it being messed.

"So, is this what they do for birthdays back on Hyrule?" he laughed. "We just go to the bar and look for Honeybees, then stumble home when the hour gets late."

"Replace 'bad' with 'good' and you have the truth," Link said to both of them, and grinned. He let go of Zack's arm and instead curled his own around Sheik from behind, digging his chin into his shoulder. As usual, the close proximity gave a small swoop in his stomach, but he didn't think anything of it. This was Sheik's day; no need to make it awkward for him. Well, unless it was in the most jovial and poking fun at sort of ways.

"I don't know, there's not like a tradition or anything," Link said, frowning. He wasn't naive enough to think Zack meant actual honeybees, but it was a hilarious image nonetheless. "What exciting lives you Gaians lead. Is there a rite of passage? You either get the honey or you get stung?" Yes, it was tasteless, but he didn't care ( ... )
