Post Super Tuesday ...

I get to register as a Democrat this Tuesday. Considering some of my more conservative views, I'm not sure how I feel about that. Except that I rather see Obama in the White House than Clinton. Yea, count me among those that would like to see some hope put back in the political system ( Read more... )

McCain/Huckabee is likely.

I think that Edwards is a long shot for the Veep slot. He didn't deliver South Carolina for Kerry, and he didn't win it himself in the primaries.

I think that Bill Richardson, former NM governor, energy secretary, and UN ambassador (and fluent Spanish speaker) is far more likely. He may tip NM's 5 votes, but more importantly they send him wherever they need a Latino boost (aka Florida).

I agree with this. I was talking to one of Richardson's frontmen over the weekend (a former student), and she said he's clearly interested in VP or Secretary of State.

Other than his gaff regarding innate homosexuality, he's a decent candidate. Edwards doesn't offer much to Clinton or Obama, other than as a token white male.

And a McCain-Huckabee ticket is doomed. Yippee.

I think you're right about McCain/Huckabee. A lot of influential Republicans have made a lot of anti-McCain noise, including "Anybody But McCain, Including Hillary".

They'll probably eat their words on that, but I'm pretty sure it'll be too late. I'm not entirely certain why they're shooting the moon like that: they can't really hate McCain more than Clinton. The ideological differences are significant, but hardly earth-shattering.

Unless the real difference is Permanent Republican Majority, something McCain never got behind. It's ugly, so I don't want it to be true, but it may well be true.

Register? Or just tell them, "Hey, I want to vote in the Democratic Primary"? Honestly, Virginia is one of the few states that doesn't care about such things. You can vote in one or the other, just not both. The label doesn't stick; it just shows up in your voting history. :)

(Guess who spent some time on the Virginia Board of Elections page today? :D)
