Closure has come to me.
42 pages in 8 days (6 days of actual writing), and my Journal Note* is completed.
I have to go back at some point through the Israel section and turn those pesky Word comments into actual footnotes, then go through again and standardize the footnotes so that they accord with that effing Bluebook, but that is a draft. A firsty first draft.
* For my Note topic, I've been threading two homegrown (US) philosophies of incarceration through case studies in Israel/Palestine and El Salvador. Not the MOST depressing topic on the planet. The Columbia Journal of Race and Law has a wonderfully elastic definition of race-related matters and were very supportive of my desire to explore an international issue (that actually ties quite strongly to a topic of great domestic interest and already-exhaustive scholarship). But, yeah. So much gangs. So many violence.
