You've been BUSY BUSY! Sorry to hear about the robbery. How did that happen?

While I don't felt much in the mood for it--emotionally-- I have kept busy with Earthbow whenever I can make myself work on it. Sorry to be such a downer but the whole project seems so thankless at times. It's not as if I have a fannish base waiting for the next novel to come out or anything.

But enough of that. The other forms of BUSY-ness just congregated all around the same time without any planning on my part. Lorena and Demaris were free when they were free. Doctors, physical therapists and even spiritual directors offer appointment dates within a narrow number of options, and of course, the labyrinth and WR are set up many months or weeks in advance of their dates. I just go with the flow when everything hits as once, and try to get through it in one piece. Then there's just as likely a period with virtually nothing happening, not even much email coming in like on a holiday weekend.

I feel your pain with the re-writing. As I told Ramona the other day, I never thought I'd hear myself say that writing 83,000 words was easier than re-writing 83,000 words. I also told her that I think this is where the novelists are sorted from the also-rans. The whole re-writing process has caused me to curse the "messy first draft" approach. The "Snowflake" method is a bit too much and too rigid to do as a "starter," but I am so thankful I found BIAM (Book in a Month). Following the BIAM process, even post NaNo, saved my butt with Ding Dong Bell.

Ugh. This rewrite is going to be a massive and excruciating lot of work and will probably get cuss-ugly before it's over.

For what it's worth don't despair, your manuscript is in better form than mine. Maybe we should start a "Re-Writers" Support Group! X can join in too as we howl out our re-writers lament.

I think we are a proto-support group. We just lack organization. Or maybe a banner.

technically, since it's an alternate timeline, canon was not changed. ;-)

I'm sorry to hear you lost that bit of cash. It doesn't do a lot to help my faith in this world... but at the same time, I'm glad everything else seems to be going well for you.

I'm all for alternate timelines in SF, but I do worry about their plans for Chekov in future films.

I could have used an alternate timeline when it came to getting robbed though, with my luck, I would have been in one where I had just been to the ATM. I agree with you about having faith in our fellow humans and their (or our) ability to resist temptation. I'm inclined to think that this wasn't a pro.

As for everything else going well for me, yes, I've been busy.

Thank you, X! tree_lady May 26 2009, 16:35:07 UTC
It's great to hear from you too!

I missed you as well--and others who normally email each week but didn't do so over the holiday weekend.

I suspect that one of my kitties in my medium-sized purse would not leave much room for anything else. Plus the whole purse would be moving around especially with Vartha in it. ;-) Wouldn't she love a try though! She loves getting inside of boxes and bags and trying to get even her head inside of ones that are obviously too small for her. I blame JR's Justin who had a great deal to do with how Vartha was raised. :)

Work and slugs ;) tree_lady May 26 2009, 16:39:39 UTC
You wrote: "I feel like a slug because my 'busy' has been overwhelming any urge to even sit in a chair and contemplate writing, reading, editing, etc. (with the one exception of Cibola and the accompanying review)."

What -has- been your "busy"?
I hope that you get back on track with writing and editing soon. Sorry that I didn't respond to your most recent review--really couldn't.

Did you have a good holiday weekend? I hope that you were off the standard amount of time of here in the U.S. No commuting Saturday or yesterday?

More news catching up soon.
