While I don't felt much in the mood for it--emotionally-- I have kept busy with Earthbow whenever I can make myself work on it. Sorry to be such a downer but the whole project seems so thankless at times. It's not as if I have a fannish base waiting for the next novel to come out or anything.
But enough of that. The other forms of BUSY-ness just congregated all around the same time without any planning on my part. Lorena and Demaris were free when they were free. Doctors, physical therapists and even spiritual directors offer appointment dates within a narrow number of options, and of course, the labyrinth and WR are set up many months or weeks in advance of their dates. I just go with the flow when everything hits as once, and try to get through it in one piece. Then there's just as likely a period with virtually nothing happening, not even much email coming in like on a holiday weekend.
I feel your pain with the re-writing. As I told Ramona the other day, I never thought I'd hear myself say that writing 83,000 words was easier than re-writing 83,000 words. I also told her that I think this is where the novelists are sorted from the also-rans. The whole re-writing process has caused me to curse the "messy first draft" approach. The "Snowflake" method is a bit too much and too rigid to do as a "starter," but I am so thankful I found BIAM (Book in a Month). Following the BIAM process, even post NaNo, saved my butt with Ding Dong Bell.
Ugh. This rewrite is going to be a massive and excruciating lot of work and will probably get cuss-ugly before it's over.
For what it's worth don't despair, your manuscript is in better form than mine. Maybe we should start a "Re-Writers" Support Group! X can join in too as we howl out our re-writers lament.
"Sorry to hear about the robbery. How did that happen?"
Essentially, I kept tempting fate by taking my handbag with me to each of the physical therapy sessions. There are no lockers, so it was just a matter of time when I would not be paying attention to my handbag while doing an exercise or get a treatment of some sort. After it happened, I locked the barn door by leaving my bag at home and just taking my apartment keys with me or a chain around my neck.
