i'm not sure what you thought i meant

but the point of the actual class really wasn't symbolism driven. we discussed that the art work had some sort of magical meaning.. draw a bunch of bears.. show humans throwing spears at them.. hopefully when the hunt is on, it's successful

we also talked about how the art could be the sharing of knowledge. most of the art work was never found upfront in a cave - that it was usually set in discreet locations of the cave.. so it also could have been someone from a different section of area coming show early homo sapien where to hunt

regardless of the above; the art was symbolic of SOMETHING in those early days.. that's when he made the example/reference to 420 day.

man, cave art was just about my favorite part of my art history class last spring - it was only surpassed by the art of the sumerians.

the theories on it are pretty interesting. i wish i'd have paid more attention. luckily, cave art was at the beginning of the class - when i actually went to class. haha.

i'm horrible.
shoot me now.

Do you know of any websites that has a good collection of cave art? I've watched some Discovery Channel and National Geographic shows about people looking for cave art and trying to read into them. It was pretty cool.
