Asked of a random cross-section of my friends:Q. What's the best romance film you can think of? The best "love story" film?

Sarah: Eternal Sunshine or Survive Style 5+.
Liz: Roman Holiday, no doubt about it.
Briana: The four-hour Pride & Prejudice, Casablanca, Harold and Maude, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I'm forgetting something.

Love, Actually, Ghost, Doctor Zhivago, and City of Angels come to mind.

there are so many movies that contain a love story, or that stretch the definition of a love story or romance... like "city of god." i think that's my favorite kind of love story. survive style is i think a romance in all ways - especially like the traditional literary definition, which hinges on love but is a little less about love and more about fantasy.

I'm surprised "Before Sunrise" and "Before Sunset" aren't on the list. Love those.

Also, LA Story is a true favorite of mine. There is some schmaltzy stuff in there, but I allow it. Also, to go along with this post and what you write, there's a line of narration in the film:

"Why is it that we don't always recognize the moment when love begins but we always know when it ends? "
