i agree. with a very few exceptions, the closest thing i can do to living in the present is enjoying something "in the moment" for the sake of later remembering the moment and the enjoyment. or, focusing intently on a difficult task.

i think it comes partly from being a writer, wanting to know how the thing will go down on paper and how other people might read it. i find myself constructing the language for writing down my experiences as they happen, even if they never get written.

i don't know how to stop either. i keep hoping that if i can figure out, philosophically and scientifically, how the human affective response to time passing works that i'll have an epiphany about how to apply that to my life. i'm probably deluding myself, though.
