To A or not 2A?

So, I'm kind of afraid to watch Ashes to Ashes.

Short reason, short poll. Some A2A spoilers re the premise itself. )

a2a, poll

I'm actually enjoying Ashes to Ashes a LOT more than Life on Mars.

ETA: I should probably mention that I'm watching at the US rate, and we just saw episode five.

There are major, major problems with the series, especially the depiction of Keeley Hawes character. Gene is both the Gene Genie and not quite as much. Obviously he can't be pushing a woman up against the file cabinet, so it's mostly verbal. BUT he is Gene and watching him in action is a pleasure. However there are episodes and bits of episodes that absolutely had me frothing at the mouth. So yeah, watch it, but be prepared to have issues.

It's a sort-of-but-not-exactly sequel to Life on Mars. It's Gene and some of the team, and it's set in 1981.

Weird. I don't know how I'd feel about that if it were my show/fandom.

Sam's not in it, which is my big concern. I mean, I love Gene, he's my favorite, but he's my favorite because of his interaction with Sam. They played off each other, they fought with each other, they made each other better.

And...Gene's not going to go around punching Alex. At least I certainly hope not.
