I'm guessing that Tokai Seishiro's father (Tokai Ichiro) was framed/taking a blame for a malpractice? And this younger Tokai, having a sinister personality due to that. And yeah, Saeki is probably the biggest jerk. Tokai still have potential redeeming qualities.
I like that the main character has very interesting layers. Even more sinister than House MD haha. The contrast between characters are enjoyable to watch as well. Looking forward to next episodes!

Interesting. Especially whatever it is between Tokai and Saeki. I haven't seen the episode yet, and your recap made me look forward to it even more, so thank you (and for the translator's note - I don't follow all the news surrounding this drama, so I didn't know - it's an interesting piece of information).
