About encoding, if you're using mac it's a bit difficult but if you're using windows, you should install divx codec. That's the key to encoding. As long as you have that, you can encode everything (and the files to be encoded should be in .avi format).

And it's a pleasant surprise to see you here, two-chan. It's been a long time :) Congratulations on owning your own subbing community :)

Juu-chan! 久しぶり~!

Yeah, I have DivX and various other codecs installed (as well as far more encoding programs than I really need XD) but I still don't fully know what I'm doing. I've read dozens of guides and I still find it hard to remember whether I should be using constant/variable bitrate VS constant/variable quality, what's the formula for working out the filesize or quality I want, whether or not I need to compress or demux or apply filters, which is the most suitable container etc etc so I just go by instinct and trial and error...

Thank you! Though I don't own anything at all, barbosa2007 just kindly invited me over to play ^___^

Ohisashi~ <3

Hmm, I wonder what's wrong then. It's really easy to encode rather than re-encoding it using avidemux. Do you want me to make a guide for you? You're using virtual dub, right?

But I'm really glad to see you again. It's been a long time and I kinda miss everyone :)

Eheheh, thanks for your offer! But I probably just need to improve more ^__^ You can see the AniShi New Year SP sub for an example of what I mean - I managed to get the filesize down a bit from 1.8GB to 1.3GB, but the quality still isn't as HQ as I'd like it to be.

I gave up on using Avidemux and VD since they kept crashing (;^__^A I currently use XviD4PSP which is great for its flexibility since it can encode from almost any format to almost any format.

How are you these days? I admit I don't really check my flist any more and I don't do much on LJ apart from post AD translations

Okay then~ If you would like me to make you a guide for VD, just tell me <3 I usually encode .ts file using avidemux and the quality is good too. There's not a problem with me. I'm using Win7 btw~

Oh, I didn't join the comm and now that the membership is closed I couldn't join lol I just recently back in the fandom, though only for a short period of time (just to tend ANM for the time being until the current leader that I've appointed to replace me come back) so I was late in joining haha. So I'm sorry I didn't know about the Anishi New Year SP ^^''

Just fine I guess? I was currently sick, I think I'm too stressed due to my day job, so I'm resting now. I don't check my f-list anymore now as well, I just don't have the time between day work and also subbing ^^''
