a manga that is worth reading ...

There's been remarkable outrage regarding the soon to be closure of OneManga (to be exact: the manga reader is closing down, but the forum will remain up). No matter what your stance on scanlatons are, it is sad news to see the site go. For me, personally, it's the end of an era - which started with my entering university and, ironically, the end ( Read more... )

Hmm, it's not like I don't understand WHY they are doing this; I just don't understand why they are being so aggressive. And why unlicensed stuff has to be removed too.

But I'll stop here. I've seen so many rants in the past few days about this that I don't really feel like talking about it anymore XD.

Hmm, I actually don't mind the German translations that much - the scarce amount of manga licensed here makes me more upset ): And their habit of dropping titles.

Of course, the outrageous prices is an issue too.

You should give this one a try - it's really good. It's good enough for me that I'm going to order the volumes from the US *shot*.

Vassalord is fun!

Of course not - people won't stop reading scans. But I think the publishers know that - they're just trying to make it harder for us to read them? Who knows.

It's just strange that they're striking now, seeing how OneManga has been around for years. But then with the introduction of Hadopi in France and three strikes regulations in the UK, nothing surprises me anymore D:

I personally fear that things are going to get worse, rather than better.

You know, I'm learning Japanese and will, once I'm good enough, resort to reading stuff in the original language. With translations the problem remains that, no matter how good they are, something will always be off.

It really is, and I wish it would get licensed here because I feel that manga like does should get the recognition they deserve. But yeah: German manga scene is dominated by shounen and shoujo. Good seinen is hard to find and rare.

It's fine - read when you like?

Ja, da hast du leider wieder mal Recht.
