Testosterone, fitness, and personality disorder

There is a defective gene that is common to all humans. It is the 5-ht2a receptor gene. The 5-ht2a receptor is a serotonin receptor in the brain. The 5-ht2a gene has a promoter region which causes it to be expressed in the brain in response to testosterone, which binds to receptors on a neuron's nuclear membrane. The 5-ht2a receptor is responsible ( Read more... )

The important question here is what effect does this receptor have in the majority of us who are intelligent enough to override instinctive behaviour?

If you're going to remove something entirely, first be sure to make sure it has absolutely no positive attributes, or find some way to approximately replace the good aspects. Aggression and selfishness are not necessarily bad components of a system, if the rest of the system is in place to deal with it.

Now, now, now. Let's not start rocking the boat in such a silly manner, suggesting that the human male is a filthy problem of a dimwitted, bellicose, rapacious hairy ape. That's just downright laughable, since the gist of your post smarts of fawning to that equally filthy problem of a neurotic insufferable chaos monkey that is the female of our species. But I'm getting ahead of myself, aren't I? Gender is just a nasty side effect of a far bigger problem... Sexual reproduction. I, for one, would like to see infants produced at factories, and then distributed to a population's adults for nurturing - or, nurtured by the state in some kind of kindergarten labor camps. It's a win-win, and more importantly, it would solve the low birthrate problem in many nations, and even turn the tide of that ~1:8 reproduction ratio of superior indigenous Europeans to Mudslime invaders!

Third parties, take notice:

Dracova is trying to make it look like my post is about males versus females. I hope that you have read my post closely enough to see that there is no mention of such comparison, such that you can see through Dracova's deception. As most educated people know, testosterone exists and exerts it's effects in both genders. Males have far more testosterone than females, but females are much more sensitive to testosterone, such that both genders are effected by testosterone. In terms of psychological effects, there is a greater contrast between high-testosterone and low-testosterone members of the same gender than there is a contrast between the average male and the average female.

Yowza, you read me like a topographic map, junior high school geography student that you are!

Now, at what point did you mention females even once in your concerned lady of a post? As for males - hmm, "male muscle strength", "man's general masculinity", "length of the penis"... Peripherally, also "increases sexual pleasure". Would you deny longer penises to females, my good sir? Because it certainly appears that way. I, for one, would have everyone enjoy their longer penises and increased sexual pleasure. Penises must be made larger, more resilient, and more numerous if our civilization is to survive and prosper! You, on the other hand, seem to suggest that penises must me made smaller and limited to one member (due to your use of "the penis" as opposed to "a penis", or penises in the plural). Why would you possibly come to such a bizarre conclusion?

Society needs 'A type' personalities. They just need to have their 'aggressiveness' pointed in a beneficial direction....

What are you talking about? Nowhere did I mention 'A type personalities'. Of course society needs type-A personalities (active, driven, perfectionistic people).

'Type-A personality' is caused by a higher level of such neurotransmitters as norepinephrine, vasopressin, and histamine... It has nothing to do with egotistical intimidating aggression.

If any correlation exists between egotistical intimidating aggression and type-A personality, then it is an incidental correlation that results from parallel effects of testosterone, and any such correlation would cease to exist once the 5-ht2a receptor gene is rectified.

I see coercive eugenics is alive and well.

For clarity's sake, what do you do with someone who doesn't (or didn't) want this particular "rectification" performed on them?

How sure are you about your own judgment of which wanted genes are universally "defective", and which aren't? Whose judgment could you trust, if you didn't have the authority overturn individual judgments in this regard?

While I appreciate that you at least pay a token explicit concern about "safety", I'm always finding it amusing how such concerns are single sentence disclaimers, glossed over as axiomatic and "obvious". Safety is seldom a "perfected" binary quality so much as a spectrum of probabilities.

More importantly, did you have any links to the science from which you're making your claims here?

If we are talking about true transhumanism...

If I was made of plastic and metal, and all you had was muscles and a personality disorder would I care about my safety around you?
