A little after the Shodan attack, Mindy would learn that both Sasami and Negi would be repodded, further darkening her mood after all of the fight: no victory, nothing to be really proud of, just a good, swift win. That was life on Stacy, so be it. What was more, for all intent purposes, "Mindy" had to make sure to look broken up about the death of ( Read more... )

The Diner [Open] hit_girl_mindy January 3 2012, 17:58:56 UTC
They were now open for Business. And yes, right above the door there was a picture of accomplished Magician Negi Springfield as well as the former owner, Sasami Masaki Jurai. In the back you can see a no nonsense blond girl with her hair tied in a bun, hard at work making food.

Yukio had wandered by this place once or twice during his stay on Stacy, though had never stopped by. It looked different, now; far more run down, possibly due to the latest attack, but its general state of disrepair meant that it probably wouldn't see many visitors, which made it an excellent, out-of-the-way place to have a conversation with his older brother.

He took a moment to observe the photo hanging over the door; he was sure he had seen them both at one time, but he couldn't quite place where.

"Excuse me?" the teen called out, stepping over a low-hanging wire. "You are open, correct?"

First customer...and he seemed like a nice enough guy. Mindy stopped what she was doing and talked out of the kitchen. A girl younger than him manning a diner was probably something of a surprise, but Mindy's demeanor was unshakably no nonsense.

"Yeah, we're open. Still in the process of cleaning though, but I got food ready. What can I do for you?"

His eyes darted to the doorway as he recalled the list that had been prepared for this day's meals. Alien burger didn't quite sound too appetizing, considering he didn't know what was in it. It would be best to play it on the safe side.

"Apple pie, though I didn't recall seeing a list of drinks served, if any. A table for two as well--my brother will be stopping in, shortly."

Well, it was bound to happen: Mindy had to go back to the castle, to clean the actual place she called home. She hated being away from Ruffnut and all of the guys, but cleaning the diner had actually taken almost all of her energy, and she knew Ruffnut well enough that she wasn't going to start bitching at her about it. Avoiding people and working had been a good outlet for her, and now it was really just time for her to come to terms with everything.

She was dirty, dusty, and looked tired, but she knew, with a smile to herself, that if Ruff wanted to kick her ass for being away in the first place, her current state wasn't going to stop her.

Strangely enough, that thought made her feel better.

Ruffnut was dragging out large chunks of wreckage, as she had been for most of the afternoon. She was sweaty, she was dirty, and still kind of pissed off ( ... )

It had been one thing, pretending all day that everything was all right, talking with people, but when it came down to it she had just felt too shitty to go back to the castle.

Part of it had been fixing up the last place she and Sasami had worked in, Mindy eager to help her prepare stuff. But the other part had been the ache of what happened still fresh in her mind: shooting, crushing things, her stupidly leaving Ruffnut alone. She felt bad about that, but worse about what had happened in the pods,

"Hey," she said softly, trying to manage to look tough, not defeated, then giving up. "Is your arm ok?"

Ruffnut gave a curt nod and wound the arm that had gotten the worst of it in a wide circle which made a popping noise in her shoulder. Her face twitched but that was the most she would show of whatever pain that had caused. "Good as new. How about you? I haven't seen you in like. Forever! Jerk." she gave a weak punch to Mindy's arm as soon as she was close enough.
