1. Negi hadn't expected the spells to work out the first time around, especially when he was doing something as legitimately time consuming such as building a test broom for Cedric to try out later. Catching the ball as it bounced around, Sasami approached Negi, a worried look on her face. "Is something wrong?"

"Ah, Sasami. Just lost in thought I'd say," replied Negi, shaking his head.

"I've been working on a project for the last few days and I haven't figured out the correct ratio of spells to imbue into the broom yet."

"Correct ratio? You mean there's math to that sort of thing?" Sasami said, a little surprised at it.

"Most of the correct designing of spells involves linguistics, mathematics and other numerous factors," said Negi, tracing out a few formulas in the air with a finger. "The problem I'm having is that too much of one magic can out-do another, and then cause a failure in the spell matrix."
