The Jedi Temple.

He really needed to propose the Magic Department move to the Tower of High Sorcery. It really made a lot more sense, didn't it?

Oh well.

An illusory sign out front said "Welcome New Applicants", along with a magic mouth that welcomed them and gave brief instructions to the office he had reluctantly claimed after deciding that ( Read more... )

Alex suddenly appeared in the temple. "Thank you, Ifrit," he says.

Alex listens to the magic mouth, which is totally brill, and walks over to the office.
"Hi!"

"Good day," he said. The quill obligingly continues to write as he looked up from his world with a small smile. "Do be careful about teleportation magic of any form while on the ship? Due to its transit though the Bleed, magic of that nature is exponentially more unreliable with distance. We are working at finding a technomagical solution, but at present we haven't obtained one."

"Oh." Alex says quietly. "Okay. Ifrit, please remind me when I ask you for stuff what's dangerous."

"~Got it.~"

"Thank you. Anyway, I'm Alex, and this is Ifrit." Alex holds out his hand, the large golden ring engraved with arcane star-based glyphs.

"It's a pleasure to meet you both," he said, inclining his head. "I'm guessing a standard 'wishing ring' situation? Servitude to the possessor, of unlimited duration?" The more-common 'three wishes' variant wouldn't have the kid wasting a service on transportation, he was certain.

Soren made his way into the office normally. That is to say, without teleporting.

"Aibghalien, I presume?"

"Correct, you've passed the first test," the wizard said as he set aside his quill. It was a joke. Really.

Soren nodded to the wizard, making note of the quill. Ah. At least some people around here wrote by hand.

"Soren, of the Greil Mercenaries," he said by way of introduction. "I'm an Archsage on my world, so I thought I should offer my services. It seems you've been quite busy for the past few days."

"As, you must have been the person Celena responded to." Speaking that name brought a noticeably warm smile to his face. "I do apologize for being busy at the time. I was in the midst of a spellcasting that consumed my entire attention for several days. We don't have foreknowledge of releases, you see."

He folded his hands in front of him, pondering. "She relayed to me that 'Archsage' places a substantial reliance on offensive spells? Is the power inherent to you, or learned? Does it require preparation ahead of time, or do you simply invoke whichever effect you desire as you see fit?"

It had taken the pyromancer a bit longer than she had expected to make her way through the City to the Temple. Part of that was distraction. The place was bigger than Drakanis Shiva back home, and Ellyn had thought that was the biggest city she'd ever see.

Well. Color her wrong.

Eventually, though, she found her way into the office of the pointy-eared man, and, tilting her head, offered him a grunt in greeting.

"Name's Ellyn Vitner. We spoke on th' comm?"

At this point he supposed seeing another elf join the magic department was too much to ask. Ah well; they'd probably all be sorcerers anyway. What was he missing.

"Welcome. Please, have a seat and let's talk." He gestured to the chair across from him as he set down the quill.

Ellyn folded herself down into the chair, rearranging her robes about herself. Over the plantsuit especially. She still wasn't used to that.

She had no clue what kind of loaded question she was about to ask, next, either. "So...whadd'ya wanna know?"

"Well, membership in the department isn't exactly rigorous," he said, still smiling in the hopes of putting her at ease. "Obviously, we like to know if you are capable of performing magical or mystical feats. Beyond that, we would like to compile a full list of the department members' capabilities, so I'd like to know what it is you can do."

Sakura wasn't sure she was doing the right thing. A "department" of sorts concerning magic. Well, she was a magic user, alright. Now the problem was, was her type of magic useful?

Arriving at the location was easy enough, thanks to The Fly card. Making her way to his office, however, was kind of a different story. Making her way there, though, she poked her head in the door, curious.

"Hello?"

A relatively young girl? She'll fit right in.

The elf smiled as he looked up, setting aside his quill. "Good day. Please, come in." He gestured obligingly to the seat across from him. "I take it you've come in response to my message on the omnicomms?"

Oh, good! She wasn't turned away! That was a good sign at the least.

Stepping in, Sakura bowed slightly at Aibghailien, returning the smile as she did, before taking the seat she was offered.

"Ah, yes I have." she responded.

"Well, welcome to the ship, or as welcome as you can ever get to a biological vessel transporting you to a war against the would-be destroyers of reality. But enough of my sense of humor." He steepled his fingers, looking over them at her. "So, for the purposes of our records, could I ask you to elaborate a little on your abilities?"

Celena had taken a moment away from her own work to come by the temple, a chance to stretch her wings, though soon after landing she took on her usual elven form and made her way into the office he had claimed.

With a warm smile on her lips she took a glance about the office before making her way over to where he sat, silent in her motions to hopefully sneak up on him until she slid her arms around him from behind his chair, "Stacy certainly has a sense of timing when it comes to the pod-releases to keep you busy it seems," she commented with a soft chuckle, "I hope the new arrivals aren't keeping you too busy,"

The fact that she'd managed it was a testament not only to her stealth, but to the simple acceptance of her presence he had. He hadn't looked up because, on some semiconscious level, he'd known it was her.

With her arms around him, he leaned back to smile up at her. "I feel a bit guilty that I was in the midst of spellcasting when this all occurred, but I had no way of knowing. Besides, let's face it, I'd be doing this anyway even if Nanoha was on-ship at the time. She's supposed to be getting married, after all."

Celena smiled on down to him, leaning down to give a peck to his forehead, "Not like Stacy gives any advanced warning of the fact," she gives a soft chuckle and gives him a gentle squeeze before sliding back from him to pull up a nearby chair. "A fair point indeed, after all she'd deserve some time off with her wife after the fact," she replies with a hint of playfulness.

"How've the new recruits been shaping up? Hopefully none of them have been too much of a handful,"

Oh no. He reaches up to catch her for a kiss with more substance than a mere peck. Hasn't he earned it?

"A child with a wish-granting genie in a ring, an Archsage, a girl who can do things with fire I can barely imagine but none of it is magical, and another girl with a deck of cards that perform potent effects. I'm starting to miss the ordinary young adult girls with the straightforward power to annihilate moons," he said, smiling.
