Alastirra was puttering about in her quarters. Usually, she left the door open, the better to let the breeze in the ship (such as it was) pass through. For the moment, she was chatting up one of the small potted plants she had bought for herself on XaXing, when she heard the plaintive call.

She'd had a younger brother--she knew what that was probably about, and so she peeked outside of the room door, observing the small, unfamiliar human child.

"Excuse me," the Farseer said politely. "But do you know where you last saw your mommy?" White brows lifted, and she gave a closed-mouthed smile. Wouldn't do to frighten the youngling with fangs, and some younglings just got scared at everything!

Ahhh, younglings. Even amidst species lines, they weren't truly different.

"I do not know, as I am not the smartest of my people. I would like to think I am nice, though. Would you mind if I transmitted a message and perhaps I could find your mommy that way?"

Alastirra gave another little smile. "Who should I be calling for you? Or would you like to do that yourself?"

Nice, but not too patronizing. Ezoshker had always hated that, and she figured this little human girl would not be different.

There really weren't many children on the ship, and this one was very familiar to Kang, despite the age difference. He frowned when he saw how young Sherry had become, somewhere around eight or nine from what he could tell, and knelt down in an attempt to get more on her level and not scare her, "Sherry, it's Kang. Do you remember me?"

Sherry backed up immediately into the warm, fleshy wall behind her. Did she? She... sort of did. Kinda.

Wait, she wasn't supposed to use the word "kinda" because it wasn't a word. Better to just shake her head, then. Her little hands picked against the wall, searching for a handhold that might help her run off a little faster.

Oh, great. Suppressing a sigh, Kang kept his voice as friendly as he could, "It's okay, I'm not going to hurt you. I watched over you before, when there was a monster in the City."
