Sherry was no different, and even though she knew that some of the scary things on the ship were nice, it didn't stop her from backing up against the warm wall of ship hastily. Her mother wanted her to be careful, after all.
"I... don't know? I don't think she's here, but she should be." She fumbled with the locket around her neck. "She's the prettiest lady in the world, and smart, too. Almost as smart as my Daddy (but don't let him hear that)." She looked up, "Do you know where they put the smart people? I thought I knew, but... now I don't really remember..."
Ahhh, younglings. Even amidst species lines, they weren't truly different.
"I do not know, as I am not the smartest of my people. I would like to think I am nice, though. Would you mind if I transmitted a message and perhaps I could find your mommy that way?"
Alastirra gave another little smile. "Who should I be calling for you? Or would you like to do that yourself?"
Nice, but not too patronizing. Ezoshker had always hated that, and she figured this little human girl would not be different.
Sherry stayed put, but those big, blue eyes of hers were very trusting. If this lady would help her, then she'd be really lucky! "A...Annette Birkin," she answered obediently. "And if my mommy isn't here, I need to ask for..." Sherry looked down at her feet, in that weird, throbby plantsuit.
"Then if you do not mind, I will ask for you, all right?"
With that, the Draenei retrieved her omnicomm, and hunched over it a bit, fingers flying over the keys. It beeped at her, and she straightened then with a smile.
"There. It is done, and hopefully there will be an answer for you soon."
Sherry nodded, "Okay. I mean... thank you." She even smiled at the big, scary purple woman. But she didn't get any closer, and kept fumbling with her locket. It wasn't really hers, though. Or maybe it -would- be hers?
This was confusing, but then, so was Alastirra. "Do those things hurt?" she asked, and pointed up at the draenei's horns.
"Not at all! Well. Only if I hit something with them, but I have no plans to do such a thing at the moment. It would not be appropriate at all." She giggled a little.
Alastirra smiled then, and leaned down. "If you are curious, you could touch them if you like. When I was small, like you, they were smaller, too."
Even if that was a loooong time ago by the way humans measured things.
Sherry reached out and tentatively poked one horn with a finger, squeaked with excitement and pushed herself back against the wall, giggling. At least she was kept easily distracted, even if that curiosity the elder Sherry possessed had by no means backed down.
True to her word, Claire headed out the second she sent the message that she was on her way. She didn't know why Sherry would be lost, they'd been on this ship almost two years, now. Still, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong, and hurried to collect her daughter.
When she spotted the little girl, whatever was wrong became obvious. She was... much smaller than she should be.
Sherry looked up and peered at Claire curiously. She couldn't remember where she'd met her, only that she - the older she, that is - was supposed to trust her. "Hi... mommy?" Not really, but...
She shifted on her feet, suddenly shy and uncomfortable.
Considering how long Claire had loved Sherry like she was her own, that question felt like a stab in the heart. The look on her face wavered for a moment, before she leaned her head forward and lowered her voice. This wasn't really a conversation to be having in front of a relative stranger, but she wasn't sure what was going on with Sherry.
"Annette isn't here, Sherry. I've been looking after you. Does... that sound familiar, at all?"
Sherry furrowed her brow as she thought. She could remember some sort of hazy things on the ship, and how Claire had been there with her, and Leon too, but... she couldn't remember how they'd met. Which made her Other Mother a stranger.
"Sort of..." Sherry answered and looked a little bit frightened, like she was afraid of giving the wrong answer. "I remember I've been with you."
"That's right. You don't... remember why, do you?" she didn't think so. Sherry was obviously much younger than she'd ever been, and while she seemed to kind of remember Claire, it was difficult to tell if she remembered much else. She studied the little girl carefully, trying to decide if she should take her down to medical, or call Leon first.
Sherry shook her head, and looked apologetically up at Claire. "No. Am I supposed to? Because if I am, I'll try really hard to remember, Ma-..." she fumbled for a moment, "Miss Claire." She scrunched her face up, trying to jog her memory, but there was very little to grab to.

Oh, she was a nice lady.
That was good.

"Hi, sweetie." She frowned a little, before looking up at Alastirra and smiling politely. "Thank you for keeping an eye on her, for me."

The Draenei mused for a moment, and then shrugged and smiled again.
