The location? Shea Stadium, circa late 90's. Two innings in, Mets down by two and up to bat. The occupant? Well, it was mostly filled with a semi-decent crown of fake people, but the only member of the crew currently watching the game was the younger Peter Parker ( Read more... )

"Hey. Now this is more like it!" Hear that voice, Peter?

"Oh, MJ! Hey! Where've you been?" Peter waved her down.

"Big Pete's been, well, you can probably figure it out on your own."

"No, not really," she came down and sat next to him, settling in comfortably. She loved a good sports game. Putting her feet up on the chair in front of her, she casually said, "Spill the beans."

Peter raised an eyebrow.

"Same thing that happens every time someone one of us is close to unexpectedly basically vanishes into thin air. He kinda lost it."

She had been drawn in by the sounds -- what kind of recreation was this? At home, she didn't really have much time to take in sporting events, nor were they really that popular. So Sandry decided that today, she would watch this strange game and figure out how to play. It looked simple enough -- hitting a ball with a bat and then running the bases. But she knew there had to be more to it.

"So...what exactly are they doing?" Sandry asked no one in particular. Hopefully, at least someone would know the answer.

"Playing baseball. Need a rundown of the rules?" Peter spoke up.

"Oh, could you? I've never played before. Or watched!" Sandry stared at the field intently. One player was running towards third base, and she leaned forward, trying to understand.

"Well, it basically goes like this," Peter said and started on the various basic rules involved in baseball.

"There's a few other rules, but they take a pretty involved explanation and don't always come up. I'll tell you what they are if they do though. Anyways, I'm Peter Parker. You?"

"Who's winning?"

A grinning green face plopped himself down in a seat next to Peter with a "#1" Foam hand on his head like a hat and a tub of nachos.

"Heya Beast Boy. The Phillies are." Peter replied.

"Booo." Responded the Changling offering the nachos to Peter, "Great idea though, I haven't seen a baseball game in forever! Like, last time the Titans and I had to win a baseball game against a bunch of criminals."

Peter ate a few. "It's kind of an annual thing with me. Though I moved it up by a few months 'cuz of the last mission." He said, licking the nacho cheese from his fingers.

Having left the city (for once), it was only mild curiosity that caused him to stop by the Sensoriums as well, while he was out. Still, it was not anything he had been expecting-- he knew of the game, from his time on Earth, but it was nothing that he had paid much heed to, in general.

"... baseball," he commented idly, as he stepped through the stands, watching closely for who it was that was part of the 'crew' in there.

"What was your first clue?" Peter replied good-naturedly.

"Hey dude." Dustin gave a slight wave but otherwise was mostly quiet, and for Dustin this unusual in and of himself. "What's up?"

Peter relaxed back into his seat."Watching a Mets game, getting my head together."

Dustin took a seat nearby Peter, and gazed at the game slightly. "Me too. Man, there's nothing like baseball. Haven't seen you in awhile, dude." A thought came to Dustin slowly as he watched a player get a strike.

"Pete, you been keeping an eye on the omnicomms lately?"

Peter's brow furrowed, trying to figure out what Dustin meant, before remembering Dustin's last post.

"You mean the ninja training thing?"
