Tainted Memories

May 24, 2010 21:26

Sometime during the regular comings and goings aboard the meatship, an announcement rings out across all portions of the ship.

||Attention crew,|| Stacy's voice says, ||As significant interest has been shown for it, and enough time has passed since the Nightmare King incident to prevent unnecessary mental issues, the procedure to unlock the memories ( Read more... )

Kang wasn't sure he liked that chair, or the white room, but he sat down anyways, scales clicking in a slight bit of nervousness. As uncomfortable as he felt, he needed to know, and there was no way he was going to back out of it.

He took a deep breath, "Alright, Stacy. Don't leave anything out."

[It'll be easier if the needle goes between two scales instead of through one. lol reptile

Aaaaaand I'll be mean and say he's home with his kids and mate. >.>]

||I'll be sure not to.||

A needle-tipped tendril appears from the ceiling, slipping in-between two of Kang's scales. As the strange liquid enters his vein, he would begin to feel very calm, all of the emotions going through his mind being fuzzed out slightly.

||Now try to clear your mind.||

After a few, silent moments, the memories would begin creeping back in.

Teyr. A peaceful day.

Kang is at home, smiling to himself as he watches Fonrar mind the children.

Suddenly, however, there is the sound of a large explosion, and the ground itself rumbles. Anything loose that was on the walls or tables is now sent flying, shattering against the ground.

Kang tells his mate and children to wait inside as he heads out to check on the disturbance himself. He won't like what he sees.

Teyr is burning.

Even worse, it is under attack by hundreds, thousands of strange creatures, each slaughtering as many of the inhabitants of the city as they could get their hands on ( ... )

Kang stayed there for several minutes, processing what he'd just seen. Of course, none of the draconians had gone down without a fight, and more often than not, they'd ended up taking their killer down with them, but they had been vastly outnumbered. That had made him feel a brief flash of pride for his race.

The image of his home burning stuck out above all else. He'd hoped that he'd find out what had happened to Fonrar and the hatchlings, for good or bad, and it was the not knowing that bothered him the most. If they were rescued like he was, then all he needed to do was wait for them to wake up. If not... he swallowed. He wasn't sure how well he'd be able to move on.

"...those bastards are going to pay."

Slowly, he got up and went to his quarters, sitting on the bed and leaning back against the wall. Draconians couldn't cry, but he wished it was possible at that moment.

There really wasn't any question about whether or not he'd take the offer. The last time he'd been mind-rubbed, it had led his mother to Kavan with Jacen. He'd had enough forgetting for one lifetime.

Ben sat in the chair the ship offered, and settled, cross-legged, into a familiar meditative posture. There is no emotion, there is peace. "I'm ready," he said to the empty room.

A needle-tipped tendril pricks Ben's arm, and any emotions still in his mind would begin to fuzz-out slightly.

After a few silent moments, the memories begin to creep back into his mind.

Ben was with his father aboard their ship. It was a routine hyperspace jump, making their way towards Coruscant.

When the ship emerged from hyperspace, however, things were anything but routine. Both father and son were reeling as a wave emanates from the force, both of them feeling the deaths of thousands, millions down on the planet. When they regain their bearings, they see the planet surrounded by hundreds of horrifying organic ships. The planet-covering city below is visibly burning even from orbit ( ... )

In an ancient temple on Yavin Four, in the blackness of the Maw, among the trees of Ossus, nestled at the heart of the galaxy at the Temple on Coruscant, the Jedi learn this:

The Force is what gives a Jedi his power. It is an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us, penetrates us, and binds the galaxy together.

But when those living things vanished...

*One moment, he was in a world beyond worlds, hurtling toward a familiar star. The next, he was in a war zone, and felt the universe beyond begin to disappear ( ... )

'Vadum had been in the process of cleaning his armour at the time of Stacy's announcement. A task he soon finished, their was no matter of choice in his mind. He would have his memories returned, no matter the result.

His combat harness back in place he entered the room, pausing only a moment to take in the room around him before he took the seat as instructed. Taking a slow breath to ready himself.

"Do what you must, I am ready,"

((Initial scene would be aboard the Shadow of Intent, either in slipspace transit or just having come out of slipsace above Sanghelios, most likely place for him would be the bridge.))

The Shadow of Intent. The command crew moved about in their usual tasks as 'Vadum watched the monitors before him, the Arbiter standing next to him. In a few moments, they would exit slipspace above Sanghelios.

What they would find when they arrived, however, was horrifying.

The planet itself was burning, whole continents upheaved. Surrounding the planet were horrifying organic shipsThe enraged crew prepares for battle, both 'Vadum and the Arbiter barking orders left and right. The ship prepared to fire everything it had at the enemy ( ... )

Nanoha had known for months that she'd wanted to know. So there wasn't any hesitation in her mind as she headed to the Sensoriums, a familiar tow-headed girl at her side.

"Thanks for coming with me, Fate-chan," she said with a squeeze of her hand. "I appreciate it."

With that, she slid into the chair in the middle of the sterile white room, still holding the other girl's hand. This place was already giving her the creeps.

Nanoha took a breath and tried to focus herself. "Okay, I'm ready."

(Nanoha will be just driving her minivan somewhere on the main city of Midchilda.)

"I couldn't let you go through with this alone, could I?" Fate said with a smile. Her grip on Nanoha's hand was tight as she crouched down next to the chair; just tight enough for the other girl to know that she was there, and will stay there for as long as possible.

No matter what, she will not let go of Nanoha's hand.

||I am going to inject you with a mild sedative|| A needle-tipped tendril snuck down the ceiling. ||It will cause you to relax, but you will retain full cognizance and awareness||

The needle slipped into her vein, creating a very calming effect. Her mind and emotions would begin to become a bit fuzzy, but still identifiable to her own consciousness.

||Clear your mind, and I will begin.||

It was a peaceful day. Average. The sun was out, but it was far from too hot to be unbearable. Nanoha was driving along.

A rumbling in the distance begins, but the sound rolls forward to the woman in her car. The ground shakes, and the road feels unsafe. Nahoha breaks quickly, but the destruction has already begun. Other cars tremble with the ground and spin out of control into each other. Smoke rises up from the buildings. Fires run rampant. Hundreds of thousands of strange creatures pour out from everywhere, slaughtering each and every inhabitant of the city ( ... )

And in the "real world" outside of her memories, Nanoha's eyes go wide in sheer, genuine terror, and she begins to shake as the world she knows begins to come apart. Despite the sedative, her breathing is deep, almost ragged, and her grip on Fate's hand loosens and then suddenly tightens again.

Then it's over, and Nanoha goes completely limp.

Loren had been thinking about this ever since she found out about the missing memories. Sure, it had been for a reason, a really good one, but the thought of her doing things that she didn't remember, of things happening. And then there was the knowledge that in the future that should have been she lost all her memories... to say she had issues with memory tampering would be putting it mildly.

And really, she'd just rather know.

She took one deep breath before entering the sensorium and another one before sitting down.

"What next?"

A loud crack is heard from the hard leather striking the wooden baseball bat. The ball pops up in the air, but is caught by an outfielder. "Out!" the usher shouts.

Loren smiles at her teammates as they run to take their place as the batters at the start of the next inning. She glances over to her mother and Elfangor in the stands.

However, something strange happens. A low rumble is heard in the distance. The sound rolls closer, and the ground begins to shake. Screams are heard. Loren looks up from her place in the dugout. Strange creatures are seen crawling towards the field. Hundreds and thousands of them pour out from the distances, ( ... )

Even with the sedative, Loren didn't quite trust herself to stand up right away. There were tears in her eyes and she could feel a lump in her throat and Loren bit her lip to keep from crying.

She didn't want to believe it, she didn't want to believe any of it, but it had felt real.

Her friends. That was the way her friends had died. The way her mother...

"Thanks, Stacy." As composed as Loren tried to be, her voice shook. She took a deep breath and then another and then she stood.

The Ohm were going to pay.
