Beckett came up to the hub, a short while after talking to the person about meeting. She wished then that she'd asked what she looked like, because picking her out of a crowd was hardly going to be easy. Nevertheless, she kept going, keeping her eyes open and alert in case someone decided to approach her ( Read more... )

"Excuse me, are you Kate Beckett?"

Someone had decided to approach her. Someone with pink hair, scaly white and red-patterned skin, and a snake tail in place of legs. She stood out in the crowd, just a little.

"Jeka Wynzorr. We spoke over the omnicoms."

An unfamiliar voice addressing her caught Kate's attention, and she turned to see who it was. "I am. It's nice to meet you, and be able to put a face to a name."

She did what she could to keep her voice level in light of Jeka's appearance. She didn't think she'd ever seen anyone quite like her, and so she was more than a little surprised. But something told her that jumping back in fear would hardly help her case. It was a good thing that she was used to surprises. And also, people were often more than what their appearances suggested.

"Are you ready to go to the Precinct?" Kate asked. "Thank you for doing this, by the way."

"It's nice to meet you too," Jeka said, smiling gently. "I thought it would be a good idea to get introductions out of the way early, since we might be working together."

Most humans were startled the first time they encountered her, but Jeka deeply appreciated Kate's personal restraint. Telling herself that they'd recoil from an enormous snake just as much didn't make it any easier.

"It's my pleasure, I assure you. The Precinct is this way."

Oh, that was something she hadn't realized, but it didn't make that much of a difference, except that it explained why she was so willing to help out. "So you're part of Security, then," Beckett commented, raising her eyebrows slightly.

"I agree, it's probably best that we get to know each other a little, if that's the case," she continued with a smile as she began moving in the direction Jeka had indicated.
