Tobias thought he might have hit on something that might lift his sprits for a bit. He, unlike some ship-lings, doesn't have time to be bored, because he's too busy being depressed, conflicted and confused with the situation with his parents. She had to wonder where the dolphin had come from, though - if it was a simulation, or one of the actual crew members. If it was a crew member, maybe she could go swimming with it. If not - perhaps it would be best to simply watch, and appreciate the dolphin's palpable joy.

Then again, dolphins were supposed to be really smart, and although Will could talk to machines, animals were sympathetic to her feelings, but she hadn't really tried THAT hard to talk to them before. She hadn't needed to. She understood them anyway.
Figuring now would be as good a time as any to give it a try, Will concentrated on the dolphin.
The last part was whispered before her thought-speak trailed off, as though she'd been trying too hard to project and had gotten some of her private thoughts mixed in with the actual speech.
