The Mysterious Melting Clock

May 14, 2011 08:59

It had taken a little time for Stacy to double back, and for the Melting Clock to be brought on board. Now all of them could see just what had caused such a drastic effect - the giant, metre-wide melting clock face. But now the crew had it in their hands, and they could get to the real work - trying to find a way to destroy it.

After getting kicked out of Science by Luis on account of being a mythological artifact that was clearly magical, the Melting Clock was on the move again, heading towards the Magical Department.

Which meant that on the way there, the Clock had to be carried through the City - meaning that anyone could be wandering by.

[[ooc: Alright guys - Wanda and the Chancellor are going to be carrying the Clock, but wearing earmuffs. They're going to thread for a little bit before the Clock goes off - anyone due to get affected needs to be within hearing distance. Keep everything with Wanda and the Chancellor to one thread, but if your character is a little distance away/won't interact with them, you can start a new thread.]]

The Chancellor wasn't really afraid of the Clock --he had a thousand years to work with. On the other hand, if it somehow damaged any of his memories of his girls, that would be a problem. Hence the covered ears. He smiled, wryly, and fangily, at Councillor Maximoff as they carried it over.

Luckily for Wanda and the Chancellor, they both had earmuffs on - so when the Cloud chimed, they didn't hear a thing.

*DOOM! DOOM! DOOM! DOOM!*

However, anyone else who was in hearing distance? Wasn't going to be so lucky...

Cassie had escaped sneaked out of Med bay a short while before. Marveling at her new found, albeit temporary, freedom, she was clueless that the Melting Clock was passing close by- at least until she heard it.

"That sounded ominous." Cassie got up and walked over to discover just what had made that noise. "...Oh, that is not good." Jonas was going to kill her.

Gert was taking a walk through the city on her own when she just happened to hear the chiming. She stopped, and turned in that direction -- just what was that?

The Chancellor spots the girl in the distance. "Young lady, please get away. You do not want to hear this thing."

Jamie happened to be climbing down the fire escape of one of the unused buildings when the clock went off, close enough to hear the ominous chime. Wincing at the sound, he shook his head for a moment before tucking his bagpipes under his arm and continuing on, his path taking him by the others.

"Hey? What's dangerous? What do ye have there?"

Ronnae really had no saving grace here. She had been listening to Jamie's playing from the bottom of the building he had been playing from and her long sensitive ears picked up the chime easily enough.

She didn't think much off it at first, frowning at the odd chanting-type chime.

She turned to look at Jamie then at the others walking by and tilted her head curiously.

"Well, I already heard it, so whatever it is--"

Wait. No, that couldn't be, could it? Gert cut herself off. "What is that?"

"That's the clock?" Jamie looks over at the others with wide eyes and a decidedly frightened expression, automatically reaching to cling on to the nearest person - Ronnae - in an attempt to find some comfort. "Now what do we do?"

Really? Seriously? Could these people not hear what was going on around them? Gertrude pointed to one of her ears and shouted (as though that would help), "Too late for that!"
