The Spirit .flv 7MB HD720p 52MBFirst, short teaser for the big screen adaptation by Frank Miller (creator of 300 and Sin City) of the comic book series created by Will Eisner. It's the story of a former rookie cop who returns mysteriously from the dead as the Spirit (Gabriel Macht) to fight crime from the shadows of Central City. His arch-enemy, the Octopus (Samuel L. Jackson) has a different mission: he's going to wipe out Spirit's beloved city as he pursues his own version of immortality.
Further characters are the whip-smart girl-next-door (Sarah Paulson), a punk secretary and frigid vixen (Scarlett Johansson), a murderous French nightclub dancer (Paz Vega), a phantom siren (Jaime King), a sexy young cop (Stana Katic) and a jewel thief with dangerous curves (Eva Mendes).
It won't be easy to keep track of all the female cast members. Unsurprisingly, looks very Sin City-ish. Not really sure what to make of the release date of mid-January next year. But Cloverfield has proven that it is possible to have a successful start at that time of the year.
Hamlet 2 Rapid 15 MBR-Rated trailer for this comedy about a high school drama teacher (Steve Coogan) who looks to motivate his students and save his department by writing a politically incorrect musical sequel to Shakespeare's "Hamlet". Other cast members include Catherine Keener, Amy Poehler, David Arquette, Melonie Diaz and re-introducing Elisabeth Shue as Elisabeth Shue (who looks great).
Advertised with a six-degree connection between the movie and South Park which means the humour in the movie is trying to offend just about everyone. Looks great.
Savage Grace HD480p 43MB HD720p 107MBMuch different US trailer for this drama that tells the incredible true story of Barbara Daly (Julianne Moore), who married above her class to Brooks Baekeland (Stephen Dillane), the dashing heir to the Bakelite plastics fortune. The birth of the couple's only child (Eddie Redmayne), rocks the uneasy balance in this marriage of extremes. Tony is a failure in his father's eyes. As he matures and becomes increasingly close to his lonely mother, the seeds for a tragedy of spectacular decadence are sown. Spanning 1946 to 1972, we follow their heady rise and tragic fall against the backdrop of New York, Paris, Mallorca and London. Hugh Dancy and Elena Anaya are also part of the cast. Earlier
European trailer.
The Wackness HD480p 24MB HD720p 56MBFirst short teaser for this coming-of-age comedic drama set in 1994 in New York City, when Giuliani just became mayor. It centres on a troubled teenage drug dealer (Josh Peck) and a drug-addled psychiatrist (Ben Kingsley). The former trades pot for therapy sessions and also falls for the doctor's step-daughter (Olivia Thirlby). Famke Janssen plays the doctor's wife. Method Man and Mary-Kate Olsen are also part of the cast. Movie won the Audience Award this year in Sundance.
I suspect this is a nice little movie, but it's hard to tell from the teaser. I can see the purpose of releasing teasers for big-budget "event" movies, but for low-budget independent films?
Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D HD480p 50MB HD720p 97MBAfter about half a dozen files in mediocre technical quality and/or totally screwed up aspect ratio, finally a version that's actually watchable. Family action-adventure about a science professor who, together with some kids, when on an expedition in Iceland, stumbles upon a major discovery that launches them on a thrilling journey deep beneath the Earth's surface, where they travel through never-before-seen worlds and encounter a variety of unusual creatures.
Maybe there is a connection to Jules Verne but I'm pretty sure the main (any maybe only) reason the movie got made is to showcase scenes that probably look good in "3D" (the director is a visual effects supervisor).
