OK, why am I doing this?

We have been invited to a B-day party for Red and Knights son. It was supposed to be at 5, although just a while ago he called and said they were going to cancel it since he got laid off. I immediately volunteered to make the cake, and I'm wondering what else I can put together for the evening ( Read more... )

I guess the question is, are you seriously intending to remain friends with them. If so... well, why not go spend time with friends? Cheer them up, help with birthday, etc. If you aren't intending to remain friends... then I guess I too would fall in the camp of "why are you doing this?"

Seems like it all comes down to that first question.

Some people feel compelled to do things for other people because they can, even if they really shouldnt. It's probably part of your nature. Not sure what the situation is with them, but my 2cents would be not to put out too much if there is little friendship here. I agree with onyxhealer.
