OK, why am I doing this?

We have been invited to a B-day party for Red and Knights son. It was supposed to be at 5, although just a while ago he called and said they were going to cancel it since he got laid off. I immediately volunteered to make the cake, and I'm wondering what else I can put together for the evening.

Why do I care? Why am I even bothering, other then that nagging feeling that it is the right thing to do.

I think the compass that guides me might need an alignment check...
