[ Rose kneels down and grins at the cat. ]

What a beautiful boy!

[ She reaches out her right hand as if to pet the cat. ]

[ he backs off for a moment- no, you tin-opener, don't touch him! ]

[ but after a moment's consideration, he moves back in and sniffs her hand, one paw raised ]

[ she doesn't smell bad... ]

[ well. he rubs his cheeks against her outstretched hand, assuming she hasn't pulled said hand back yet ]

[ said hand is still touching the cat, and now she's stroking around his face ]

What's a pretty cat like you doing here? Do you live here?

[ Sheppard's carefully exploring the house, trying to ignore his nagging déjà vu, and he's just stumbled upon you. The military is here, Rose! In full gear, and armed. Depending on if you think that's a good thing or not, well... He relaxes a little on seeing you and scans the room for other people. ]

Seen anyone else?

[ Rose looks at the newcomer closely. Military man. Wonder if he's from Torchwood and here to help her? ]

No, just this cat. Are you from Torchwood?

[ Frowns at you. Torchwood's a little after his time, and you have an unexpected accent. ]

Never heard of it, I'm Air Force. You know, planes... Helicopters... We get all the coolest toys.

You're American, then?

[ Strange. In the military, and hasn't heard of Torchwood? Something's amiss, here. ]

[Rook supposes that this place can't be altogether bad if it's got birds like this running around. He leers at her.]

Something on your mind? Bet I can take care of that, real easy.

[ Rose is aware of the leer he's directing at her and puts up her guard. ]

Have you seen a man called the Doctor, by any chance?

No, but who needs a doctor, anyway? Not good for much, are they. Pansy-ass 'Versity boys, the lot of them. Come with me, this doctor of yours'll never stand a chance.

And why should I go with you? Where will you take me?

[Spotting the lady, after some contemplation he decides to go up to talk to her. While he is annoyed, he tries to muster up some manners.]

Excuse me? Have you seen a lady with short blond hair around here or some annoying boy who wears an armour?

[ Rose shakes her head apologetically. ]

I'm sorry, but I haven't seen anyone yet who matches those descriptions.

[ She decides to chance it. ]

Have you seen a man who calls himself the Doctor? Tall, very skinny, with brown hair that tends to go all over the place?

[He seems slightly insecure, but he tries to keep his serious face on.]

No, I am sorry as well. I haven't seen a person like that.

[ It was worth the shot. Rose gives the young man a smile. ]

[Naoto crosses Rose's way and finds herself unable to ignore the strangely familiar feeling she gets from looking at this woman.]
