Ah, what a delightful relaxing weekend!

I dropped by the public library after work last night with dreams of a leisurely spin through Money Magazine, and drowsily browsing the shelves for my next read now that I finally finished Vanity Fair after about a three-month tour there. This past vacation I read "The Curious Case of the Dog in the Night" - a murder mystery, ostensibly, of a dog...but not really. It's a stunningly well written novel from the perspective of a 15 year old autistic boy. (Author worked with autistic kids for a number of years.)

Beautiful and poignant and an impressive rendition of an autist.

I think one of my coworkers recently mentioned reading this book, and she enjoyed it.

Why do you recommend it to me personally? I always enjoy personal recommendations.

Well, I've been recommending it to anyone who seems to like emotional range in their reading, (and also describe it as an absolute must read to anyone who either has or deals with kids on the autism spectrum). Specific to you, I've gotten the impression that you like to mix it up a bit in your reading material and this is a really stylistically interesting read - somehow it's both light and intense at the same time, and it has a language pattern that's distinctive. Sort of a gut feeling that it might be quirky enough to appeal to you for similar reasons it did me ( ... )
