2011 is the Year of Zuzu's Petals

This year’s meditation is about kicking Envy in the teeth. I’d like to defeat the green monster by concentrating on what I believe to be the antitheses of wanting what I think others have got: gratitude, appreciation, charity, generosity.

My name for the year comes from my all-time favorite movie, “It’s a Wonderful Life.” George Bailey spends ( Read more... )

If you lived closer, I would SO teach you how to spin.
Spinning is rhythmic, relaxing and contemplative. I figured out that when I buy wool to spin, I get triple good out of it.
Once in the joy of spinning itself, secondly in the joy of having beautiful handmade yarn to use or gift to a friend, and the thirdly in the end knitted or woven product to be gifted or worn! Were you plannning on spinning with a drop spindle, or seeking out a spinning wheel?

I plan on learning whatever type of spinning is taught at the most convenient class to take. ;)

Here is a tutorial on spinning that is helpful for beginning drop spindlers. If you wish, PM me your snailmail addy and I will send/loan you a drop spindle I have lying around for you to play with while you figure out what you want for your own.

Personally I use an Ashford "Joy" wheel which I learned on and enjoy very much.

It is portable, compact, simple and as the name suggests, a joy to use. Also for a less expensive entry wheel, I might recommend:

Nice list! I love the handwritten correspondence and photos with friends entries, as I think I keep mentioning, but I somehow have never worked that practice into my own daily life. So please accept my continued approbation for having and keeping those goals! I love the reminder that this possibility is there.

and thought of you.

I can totally see you turning into "Aunt Betty" at some point. :) I hope you don't find it offensive! But I can totally see you knitting this type of thing.
