Indeed. I'm looking forward to it. Of course, in this case, they had me at "Lee Hammock's..." and the rest was icing on the cake.

Yup. And the flagship game of Kings Gate's pretty cool to. Much with the Swash your buckles and rennisance period stuff as opposed to the standard Dark Age/Feudal setting that most larps tend to fall into.

I appreciate that, it certainly isn't the first time the game has been recommended to me over the years.

I've never been because I don't much care for the rules system, but more so - I'm sad to say I've heard from several distinct sources that the game is very cliquish. While I've heard good things lately about it, I can only imagine that with time, the cliquishness has increased, not decreased.

Just not for me, I guess. But thank you!

I watched "Jericho" last night, and I realized it's written like a bad LARP.

I just choked on my chips I laughed so hard. I love that I know people that make those type of comparisons. I'll have to watch it now and reminisce on writing RELIC.

Yeah, that amused me, too. :-) I've been watching "Jericho" as well, and while I can see what Trace means, I'd say they are intentionally making it about the people and their relationships... in a novel setting.

"Jericho" v. James Cameron traceroo October 6 2006, 15:42:13 UTC
James Cameron does that well. He writes stories about people and human drama in the midst of sweeping technological change.

"Jericho" isn't there yet. They have this incredible setting with potential for lots of interesting human drama... but the story about the poor kid being made fun of by the rich kids, and the guy who has to face his mistress and wife in the same fallout shelter? Eh. I think they can do better with the excellent premise they've established.

I tried to watch "Jericho" but the great core concept wasn't enough to keep me through the bad execution...

Wow. I think you just described my own thoughts on LARPing perfectly. Soo... let's just say that if we find that tasty, tasty, fresh chip, we'll let each other know where to eat, if you get my drift.
