Ice Cream Social.

Enough said.

Alright, so that's not true. When it comes to ice cream, I don't know that there are enough words available to express my deep, DEEP appreciation for its existence.

And to think, for Lent, ice cream is what I gave up. How'd I last so long?

Today's dish consists of: mint chocolate chip ice cream, hot fudge, jimmies ( ( Read more... )

poll, ice cream, work

I still have names for all of my stuffed animals, and whenever anyone else in the family gets one, they look to me to name it.

Awesome! Have you ever named your plants? vivonelcarmelo and I have discovered we share that odd tendency.

Filbert was the best. He was a palm tree.

I definitely made up names for some... I think most. I had a doll named Lacey Turisha. Don't ask.

I'm craving ice cream now... thanks.

Yes, they all had names. Every. Last. One.
Though I did have a bear named Bear and panda bear named Panda. And I Tiger, but he was old and ratty and for some reason I couldn't give him a spiffy name.

And since you gave up ice cream for Lent, could you have had sorbet? Frozen yogurt?

Would you believe that I went and had frozen custard once? And I felt a little guilty afterward since it seemed like my decision to have it was based on a slight technicality. I mean, sure, it isn't ice cream, but it was so darn close. Entertained thoughts of the other two as well, but after the custard couldn't seem to justify them according to my conscience. XD

Yeah, some of mine had really generic names and others had very creative ones. I definitely had a striped kitty names Stripes. He he...

All my 1 zillion stufties had names and I slept with a different one every night so in case they came alive. they would not get jealous and kill me in my sleep. <--- I was a weird kid. To this day, I am afraid of sleeping in rooms with porcelin dolls. I am so strange... :)

(The 80's movie Dolls really messed me up.)

At age four, I was prepared to swear that my stuff CareBears (Wish and Cheer Bears) came alive while I slept. I'm not sure when I decided they didn't, but at that time, my belief was as solid as it'd ever get. XD

I've never taken scary movies well, so that one was avoided when I was young and at my most vulnerable. I'm sorry you've been scarred. :(

Dude, did you see the X-files episode with he talking doll? Now THAT messed me up. I still get chills from those dumb dolls with that all knowing glint in their eyes.

Mmm, ice cream sounds really good right now. It's interesting that only after I eat a salty/savory meal that I crave ice cream - the sweetness and the texture is just what I'm looking for. Alas that I don't have any on me at the moment. :p

My sisters and I did and still do name our stuffed animals (and occasionally, our electronic possessions, like iPods), though I'm sorry to say that no, I never gave them creative names. My stuffed dog plushie of twenty years was charmingly named Doggy, my blue whale plushie is Whaley, my wolf plushie, Mooney... I think you get the picture. ;)

Ha ha ha...at least you named them at all. Everytime my six-year-old cousin Sophia shows me a new animal, I ask her if it has a name. Her brow creases and then she looks up at me and silently shakes her head. So, then we've got to come up with a name for it. I try very hard to steer her away from things like Kitty and even Fluffy. I'm all for names with a connection but not necessarily an obvious one.

For example, a college friend gave me this awesome HUGE beanie frog for Christmas one year. It even had glittery tinsel-like strands running through the material. Because some movie with Gwyneth Paltrow had recently come out and we'd seen it and decided she was beautiful (still think she is...I love her facial structure to death), I ended up naming the frog Gwyneth.

Anyhow, I think I'm going to take name requests for the plants in my office soon...
