More Mebius, Max, and whatnot...

(thanks to hoshikage for the icon I snagged ^_^)

Perhaps I could have waited on a part of my last post til I saw some of the Mebius-Gaiden stuff... ^__^ At least I got to see what I wanted which was to see Ryuu be captain and train his own GUYS team in the Armored Darkness eps. I kinda did like Haluzaki, though I wonder if they should have made more of the Gaiden than just two eps, it seemed like a bunch of stuff was squeezed in. But I did like the focus on Ryuu and that he makes a great captain. I also loved the reunion scene, esp when he ruffled Mirai's hair and Mirai broke into this big goofy grin. ^_^ Really glad Mirai gets some off-time with his boyfriend Ryuu GUYS and visit more on earth... :D

The Hikari Saga eps were pretty good, gave good perspective as to how he went from peaceful scientist and observer to revenge-driven warrior, and then back to seeking to regain himself after he lost the Revenge armor.

The Ghost Reverse gaiden was a nice play on the Ultraman universe, as there weren't any human characters at all, although of course they were for the most part voiced by the same people who were them. I say, for the most part, because when Ace spoke, it wasn't Seiji's actor. I listened a bit more and was like 'Kusao-san??' and sure enough, when I checked the ending credits it was indeed Kusao Takeshi. :) It was an interesting take on the space-battles, as mentioned before, and I liked seeing more of Mebius and Hikari fighting, as well as some background on Ultra-history. I'm curious about the end of that, if it's covered in Ultra-Galaxy or in the Zero movies. I suppose there's one way to take care of that curiosity ^_^

After all that, then I sat down and watched Max which I wonder if Mebius built on that and other series to make it so cool, since it wasn't as good for me as Mebius is. I did like that they used a lot of throw-backs and different plots that were reminiscent of past Ultra-shows, but to me Mebius is a much better anniversary/throwback series.

About the only interesting characters were Kaito and Elly, none of the any other characters really stood out for me, they were either there or weren't too impressive. I am a bit amused they tossed the American in there, and I want to think they made him use bad Japanese, since I'm sure he was over there and did host a learning-English show(which I think I saw, but don't remember), but I did like that he got to play around a bit at least. I think the kaijuu and the aliens were more memorable, as were some of the supporting characters, like the little girl who was the only counter to the one kaijuu by playing her music to it. The last arc was about the only good one, where he had to get the rest of the team to help him get Max off the robot-thing.

One other aspect I liked was that they brought in Hayata and Fuji as main characters, as well as Ide who made an appearance in a few eps. I also like that they brought in the other main characters and they got to do the throw-backs to their own characters, like Moboroshi got to do his glasses-pose. ^_^

I was going to write about OOO, since it's been a while since I wrote about it, but I think I want to go back and rewatch it and the last few eps of Gokaiger again, since I only watched them once on keyhole. I've been a bit too preoccupied with Ultraman, but it's been pretty good, esp with Mebius and all. :D

ultraman max, ultraman mebius, ultraman
