So this is the first time I've ever had a character for whom this is an issue. LOL @ me apping normal side characters. I'm pretty laid-back about this, and don't expect it to stay a secret for long... but he can and does pass as a normal teenage boy for a good period of time. If you're wondering whether you can recognize him as not human, the answer is yes, if your character has the ability to do so. It's... really probably not that difficult to tell. Here's how!
PHYSICALLY: Kaworu manages to pass as a normal teenage boy to everyone in the series until he activates his powers and takes over Unit-02, at which point the instruments recognize him as an Angel by his blood pattern (blood pattern: blue, whatever that actually means). So while he is at least partially comprised of Angel DNA, I think that you'll only notice if he's actively using his powers. Probably. If you think that your character is capable of physically recognizing Kaworu as something other than "that weird albino kid," let's chat!
FOR THE PSYCHICS/SHINIGAMI/ETC.: Well, we're not clear on just what exactly an Angel is, or if it even has anything remotely to do with Christianity, 'cause they take the forms of things like cubes and penis monsters and giant spiders. So probably not. Anyway, Kaworu is Tabris, the seventeenth Angel, and while he looks like a teenage boy, it probably ought to be pretty obvious to anyone who can sense these kinds of things that Kaworu is a very inhuman consciousness residing in a human form. You might also notice an extra soul hanging out in there, as Kaworu is also the human vessel for the soul of the first Angel, Adam. It is BIG and SHINY and VERY NOT HUMAN.
Basically, I don't care too much if you recognize him as an Angel. Camp's full of strange people. All I ask is that if you think it's going to be an Issue, give me a heads-up!
