As I may have mentioned, one of my job perks is getting to take two books home at a time, for two weeks each, provided I return them undamaged.

As you may imagine, I've been taking advantage of this pretty constantly.  But while I have no shortage of books I'm interested in reading, being in a bookstore has me thinking about how much more there is ( Read more... )

Have you read anything by Haruki Murakami? He's one of my favorite authors, and one I always tend to recommend to people. 'The Wind-up Bird Chronicle', or 'Hard Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World' are both great, but then again, all his stuff is, so I bet you'd enjoy anything you picked up. :D

Also, if you haven't read James Joyce's 'Ulysses', that's one of my favorite books ever, and one that I think everyone should read. ;)

That's an awesome perk, btw. I hope you get some good recs!

YAY BOOKS.

I'm currently rediscovering the brilliance that is Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, which I think you've already read, although I cannot remember for the life of me.

OH. DOROTHY DUNNETT. The Lymond Chronicles. Read them. Now.

Anything and everything by Sarah Dunant, Anya Seton, Tracy Chevalier and Lisa See. Fun historical fiction!

If it were me, I would just start at one end of the history section, and slowly move my way to the contemporary era...

Have you read Maybe the Moon by Armistead Maupin? It's one of my go-to re-read for comfort books.
