The conference I'm probably going to (I'm making up my mind in the next couple of weeks) is CanWrite. The Friday is what interests me, but there is a bit of spec fic stuff on the Saturday, too.
I'm going on a bit of a non-fiction kick, and I'm looking for suggestions. I'd particularly like to read accounts of different cultures and societies, anthropological or historical, anything that gives a vivid picture of life in another time and/or place. Non-fiction tends to be a bit hard for me, so the more lively and engaging the narrative,
