After reading all this the only thing I can find to poke at you with is: "Oh sure, so Darcie gets her own tag and I'm just left out in the cold?!?!"

I totally see the similarities to Madonna, which makes me wonder... who did it before Madonna... and who's going to end up doing it after Gaga? Cause you know there will be another one in another 20 years.

Religion has been used as an influence for art and music for centuries.

I'm not talking about just the religious aspect. I meant the showmanship in general.

Well Madonna came at around the same time ad Cyndi Lauper and the critics were all about Cyndi over Madonna. Madonna cites many influences including women in rock. I have seen them both on concert. Both bring a combination of fashion, dance, and music. It's easy to compare.

Hi. Planning a trip to Amsterdam in September me and about 3 other straight friends. Looking for an apt. Or house boat to share. Any good leads? I will private message you my email address.

I saw the monster ball tour and she was fantastic.

Assuming my Gaga hate hasn't made you want to murder me in my sleep I would love to meet up. If you are with straight friends you will need a gay escape I'm sure...

Although I don't know much about accommodation. Let me know what you find and I will let you know about what the neighborhood is like etc...

Her parents named her Madonna from my understanding. She was in at the beginning of Music Video and it made her an icon.

As for the gay escape, I am sure I can find something to get into, but would love to meet up and hang. How is the September weather?

Yup, they did. It is her best asset.

As for the gay scene, maybe you'll let me show you around. :)

September is still nice. Usually drier than August, you'll need a hoodie and maybe a light jacket.

Let me put a few more quotation marks in there for you... no_touching May 31 2011, 10:14:58 UTC
You know, I am genuinely stuck trying to be objective about whether Madonna is simply empirically “better” (and I mean this in the broadest sense of being a “pop star”) or I’m just being old and curmudgeonly. I’ve got no issues with Lady Gaga per se. She’s the “big thing” for this generation of pop music listeners, and that’s cool. But she’s not “brilliant” by any standards, she’s not revolutionary, she’s not unique, and she’s not changing anything, and I’d really wish people would start using a bit more objectivity when spouting this crap.

This is how I feel... Gaga is making me consider my age and that's not good. Here's what I said above...

When Madonna did it, it was clever. Her name is "Madonna".

Like a Virgin
Like a Prayer
Immaculate Collection.

All a play on words.

Gaga's image is cheap and her shock tactics are pointless. No one is shocked, children lap it up and adults just roll their eyes at her.

Because of this, Madonna is either better by default, or we are too old to be objective. :/
