Why don't more Asians (or half-Asians) compete in Top Model? We've had her and Gina. If I count Sara, Natasha, Julie, Anchal (countries in Asia with Indo-European languages), then that's 6/115: 5%. That's sad.
I'm guessing a lot probably don't meet the height requirements... I'm not trying to sound racist or anything, but commonly, Asian girls are considerably shorter.
Considerably shorter? I'm asian, and I have a lot of asian friends and most of us are between 5'2 and 5'6. Isn't that pretty average? Yeah, Asian girls tend to be a bit shorter, but not considerably. Only by an inch or two. It's not like Asian people are a foot shorter than everybody else.
i think the person above you meant considerably shorter than the fashion model norm. eva is 5'6.5" and is the shortest contestant ever on ANTM (according to wikipedia).
Old for Seventeen Magazine maybe, but there is a whole industry out there that targets women who are no longer seventeen themselves.
Chanel - for instance - always has a mature woman spokesmodel for some of its perfumes. A lot of the couture houses use older women too. I can see April walking for Galliano or Gauthier easily.
Closer to home and closer to ANTM, Queen Latifah for CG is another prime example, she's waaaay older than April.
The only thing I'd do was condition her lips, give that girl some Chapstick!
Older models and spokesmodels are almost always either already established models, or already famous as a television personality or something similar. April is neither.
