Old for Seventeen Magazine maybe, but there is a whole industry out there that targets women who are no longer seventeen themselves.
Chanel - for instance - always has a mature woman spokesmodel for some of its perfumes. A lot of the couture houses use older women too. I can see April walking for Galliano or Gauthier easily.
Closer to home and closer to ANTM, Queen Latifah for CG is another prime example, she's waaaay older than April.
The only thing I'd do was condition her lips, give that girl some Chapstick!
Older models and spokesmodels are almost always either already established models, or already famous as a television personality or something similar. April is neither.
Not entirely true. That may be true for the super high profile big money campaigns I just mentioned, but it's not true industry wide.
The company I work for makes commercials for much smaller companies than Chanel or CG, and all the time we hunt for good looking older women, we cast good looking older models and spokesmodels all the time, we rarely, rarely cast younger girls... I can think of twice this past year out of many many projects. More often than not we (in California) send pix and audition tapes to clients to be told the subjects are 'too young' - even when they're in their 30s.

April will be able to get work for a long time.
