It's actually an echidna, which is native to Australia. it's a monotreme, which means it lays eggs. It's related to the platypus.
This year the cards I sent to people overseas this year either had a koala or an echidna on it.
I also got your card just now. Yay, Daleks!

It's probably why they have never been in A Doctor Who christmas special. They don't destroy planets at Christmas.
