JA1’s Capsule Review Cavalcade: The Wrestling DVDs II

I just recently attended Ford Field for a football game. Being there to see the home team lose didn’t matter - I was jazzed just thinking about being down there in the middle of this huge complex amongst screaming fans. It’s the site of Wrestle Mania 23, a return to Detroit after a 20 year absence. I have my floor tickets safely locked away, ( Read more... )

I was tempted to buy that Hall of Fame thing as I saw it cheap (under $10) at a department store. But I skipped on it. The ceremony is probably nice, but I'd like some decent matches to go with it.

I've already got the SuperStar Billy Graham DVD (and I'm sure it's the same match). The rest didn't really excite me all that much.

What they did to the AWA DVD is a real shame. I was going to buy it but after reading bad reviews I skipped it. There are some real gem matches in those AWA archives, but they didn't use them. Sad, Sad, Sad. It does appear that Bockwinkel gets a lot of play, which is appropiate.

I too enjoyed the Brian Pillman DVD. I'm pretty sure I wrote a review of it.

I can't believe I forgot Kerry vs. Jerry in my little summary there. That's prolly the only definitive match in the entirety of the extras. I've heard mixed reviews on the match itself, but it's nothing I'm itching to see. Especially when I had those two discs worth of Pillman looming nearby.

I've seen Kerry vs. Jerry a few times. It's an interesting match in part because Kerry accidentally blades his arm early into the match and is bleeding all over everything throughout the match. I seem to recall it having a disappointing finish though. But it's still one of the gems that should be on there. Kerry was way over with the crowd. From everything I ever heard (and this isn't exactly recently, nor am I fact checking right now) all of the problems with his run there were due to personal problems, or at least ones that were perceived. I thought the IC belt was taken off of him due to somebody believing he was unwell or what not. I'm sure I could Google it, but my kneejerk reaction to reading that from you was the thought it was Kerry not the WWE who ultimately killed his run.
