This IS a good movie. Like you, I held off watching it for a while. Actually, I persuaded our local indy theater to carry it. Then I made plans to see it and they pulled it two weeks into it's run!

Eventually I caught it on satellite and really enjoyed it. As you said, a great flick that's different/arty but still very entertaining.

Oh an yeah, Harvey did make a GN called "Our Movie Year." It was all about Harvey retiring and getting involved with the movie, being on set, flying around the world to promote it, his health problems that kicked in after the filming stopped, his anxiety over work drying up after the movie is forgotten, etc..

The 1st quarter of it is interesting, then it begins to repeat itself over and over again. You literally have the same story being told numerous times and it quickly gets boring and a chore to plow though. But after around the half way point some new stuff comes out and the book gets interesting again.

I've also have Our Cancer Year but have yet to read it.
