My left footsie.

So, after conferring with the fabulous ldy_brtt_ashley and doing a bit of research, it appears that the pain in my left foot, on the heel, is indeed my very first case of plantar fasciitis. I had to laugh as I read the description of people likely to have PF ( Read more... )

Plantar fasciitis starting giving me problems a little while ago. There are stretches that you can to to help fix the problem, as well as a brace you can use while you are sleeping + exercise/stretching aids. The first few steps when you get out of bed are when you are most likely to notice it.

Hmmm, thanks for the link. I really do think that in my case, I just need to take it easy for a bit, and get new running and 'school' shoes. And maybe, just maybe, find a way to actually sit down during the day. Though, I'm not holding my breath on that one!

I have it in my right foot, and Jeanome has it in both of hers.

I use gel heel cups (that I get at CVS) in pretty much all my shoes, and that is good enough for me for the most part.

I can't wear super-cheap "fun" shoes anymore, but I've had really good experiences with finding work-shoes at Naturalizer. They have various widths, and sometimes getting a Wide shoe in my usual size sometimes accommodates the gel thingies better than getting a half size bigger shoe. YMMV...

Don't let it go, though. Cortisone shots and $300 custom orthotics are NOT. FUN.

I've seen the gel cups online, might give those a shot. I definitely need new shoes, though, and that combined with not running a race and then playing a tournament the next weekend should take care of things.

I hope.

Like baronsamdi said, get gel/silicone heel cups and more cushiony-comfortable shoes. Beautifeel makes very comfortable work shoes (a bit pricey though).

Well, the thing with those expensive shoes is that they are usually much better for your feet! No more shopping at Payless I guess!

Yeah, you have to look at it not as "buying expensive shoes," but more as "paying money for lack of pain and health of foot."

i just got a pair of dankso heels, and i have to say that the cushioning is really nice. i understand now why the clogs are so popular with people who have to stand on their feet all day. i still wouldn't want to walk all around town in them, but i think the answer there is *people who wear heels don't do three+ miles of walking a day.* it's just a different lifestyle.

i only got these because they were cute enough for non-interview use as well. still, a bit spendy :/
