Yesterday this 18th-century German flintlock pistol which belonged to Stephen Decatur was returned to us. It was on long-term loan for exhibition on the USS Constitution, the ship Decatur commanded in the wars against the Barbary pirates. This book was brought out of the vault today for a special fundraising event. Shelley published The Masque of Anarchy in 1832. This binding, the Rare Books Librarian estimates, is early twentieth century. I wish I could show you the rest!
