Buffyverse Fic: Slipping Under [Spike/Xander] 1/1

Oct 24, 2006 01:58

This is a little something I actually wrote about a year and a half ago.  For those of you with really good memories, you might remember me asking a question about it here.  Basically, my dilemma was that I wrote a fic with character death in it and fully intended on that being all there was.  Unfortunately, my muse had other plans and an idea for ( Read more... )

pairing: spike/xander, buffyverse fic: one shots - spike/xander, buffyverse fic, buffyverse fic: one shots - all

I don't normally care for deathfics, because well...dead. But the first one was very good; I think Andrew was the right one to have finding him. But I like the second one better, not just because Xander lives (though "yay"). It's got a lot of potential for a long story in it. Admitted admiration from Spike, respect from Angel (even if he tries to deny it later), a place for Xander to stand and remake his life if he chooses, and if Spike ever suddenly grasps the meaning of that comment Xander made "because you're dead"...Toss in the independence, competence, and people skills Xander surely learned on his own in Africa with the souled Spike (loving yet still his frank self) and golly...hope you continue this. Can you tell?

thanks for posting this,

Thanks! I'm glad you liked that Andrew was the one to find him. That felt right to me, too.

As for the second one, strangely, it wasn't until I was doing one final edit before posting that I even realized it could be the set up to something longer, lol. No idea why that didn't occur to me sooner, but now that it has, along with the requests I've been getting in fb for more, I'm definitely considering writing more on it. :-)

You actually could write more on both.

If you filled in the back story some on the first one, or followed Andrew as he reacted to the loss, tried to bring Xander back from the dead-he is a warlock-it could be interesting.

But it's the second one that's got the real potential & I say that from more than just greedy fangirl longing to read more (yes, really). I've read some of your other pieces now & think you've a good grasp on their personalities. Anyone who can write around all the difficulties to bring troublesome characters together & make it seem natural must be enouraged to write more!

I'm looking at your lj on my other window right now, eyeing the Spangel material...I normally don't like it but I'm considering taking the plunge.

Very nice. They were both very good, believable, but the second was my preference as well. Still, glad I read them both.

Thank you! I'm glad you read and liked them both. The second does seem to be the most popular one, can't imagine why, LOL.

Much enjoyed both versions although I confess I did have to rush from the sad ending very quickly to the happy one before bursting in to tears.

I'm a sucker for a happy ending.

Thank you! I'm glad the second one helped cheer you up after the first one. :-)

Thanks! I'm glad you liked the second one. :-)

As for the first, it's actually what I wrote first. I didn't even get the idea for the second until after I'd written the first, so the second probably wouldn't have existed if I'd never written the first, lol.
